Heather DesRochers
Heather DesRochers of Granby, Massachusetts is a 21 year old SK Light Modified Driver at the Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT. Heather has been involved in racing since she was 10 years old. She began her career in a Tiger Sprint gokart at the Pinnacle Raceway in Chicopee, Mass. Heather competed in gokarts for six years at various kart tracks in New York and New England winning numerous karting championships.
In 2005 she made the move to dirt track racing in a Mini Sprint at Whip City Speedway in the 750 CC Sportsman Class. She won the Rookie of the Year honors in 2005 as well as the track championship in the Sportsman Class.
In 2006 Heather moved up to the highly competitive 750 CC “A” class with a new Bailey ’06 Chassis. She had another successful season which included a win on August 5th and a 7th place finish in the Championship points.
In 2007 Heather was finally been able to realize her dream of following in her father’s footsteps and racing an asphalt modified. The move to this very sophisticated form of race car proved both challenging and rewarding to the DesRochers Team. Heather returned to the SK Lights in 2008, and in 2009 she had her most successful season yet – winning 2 feature events and finishing 4th in the year end point standings.
