Heather DesRochers

The 2011 season at Stafford Motor Speedway came to an end with the Fall Final, held on October 2. Heather’s goal for the season was to win Rookie  Of The Year in the SK Modified Class. While this was an ambitious goal to set for herself, Heather and the team knew it was within her reach. It is with great pride that we announce Heather is indeed the 2011 Stafford Motor Speedway Rookie of the Year in the SK Modified Class!  The SK Class at Stafford features the top Modified drivers in the country on a weekly basis, and just to compete among drivers of this quality has been an honor.  While the  season was filled with many mechanical issues, Heather still did what it took to be competitive each and every week, and in the end, her goal of top rookie was reached. In addition, Heather was once again nominated for the Most Popular Driver award, which she has been nominated for each year she has competed at Stafford Speedway.  We wish to thank our generous sponsors…without them, Heather would not have achieved these honors.  They include, A. Crane Construction,  Capa Di Roma Restaurant, Don DesRochers Excavating,  Frasco Fuel Oil, Valley Wines and Liquor Square, Victory Motorsports Marketing ,  Western Mass Collision and H Morris. We would especially like to thank Steve and Diana Greer of Gunsmoke Stables Racing for their generous support of Heather in 2011. A big thank you goes out to the crew as well – Conrad DesRochers, Pat Howe, Ryan Spaulding and Jim Banas for all their hard work and dedication.  And lastly, a big thank you to all the loyal fans and friends who lent their support in 2011!  Photos from the 2011 Stafford  Motor Speedway Banquet of Champions have been added to the Racing 2011 album. Heather DesRochers of Granby, Massachusetts is a 21 year old SK Modified Driver at the Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT. Heather has been involved in racing since she was 10 years old. She began her career in a Tiger Sprint gokart at the Pinnacle Raceway in Chicopee, Mass. Heather competed in gokarts for six years at various kart tracks in New York and New England winning numerous karting championships.

In 2005 she made the move to dirt track racing in a Mini Sprint at Whip City Speedway in the 750 CC Sportsman Class. She won the Rookie of the Year honors in 2005 as well as the track championship in the Sportsman Class.

In 2006 Heather moved up to the highly competitive 750 CC “A” class with a new Bailey ’06 Chassis. She had another successful season which included a win on August 5th and a 7th place finish in the Championship points.

In 2007 Heather was  finally been able to realize her dream of following in her father’s footsteps and racing an asphalt modified. The move to this very sophisticated form of race car proved both challenging and rewarding to the DesRochers Team. Heather returned to the SK Lights in 2008, and in 2009 she had her most successful season yet – winning 2 feature events and finishing 4th in the year end point standings.

Heather and her team have made the decision to move up to Staffords premier division, the SK Modifieds for 2011.
